Second Life — Your Money Deserves to Keep Shining

Money doesn't disappear. It just changes hands.

At Arte Taxco, we believe that a fine silver piece should never end up forgotten in a drawer. That's why we created the Second Life line: handcrafted Taxco jewelry that has already lived a story and is ready to live another.

What is the Second Life line?

These are .925 and .950 silver pieces that their previous owners returned through our Lifetime Jewelry Program. We receive them, inspect them, recondition them—polishing, setting review, deep cleaning—and reintroduce them to the catalog with their entire documented history.

These are not defective or damaged pieces. They are rings that someone loved, wore, and at some point decided to let go. Now they await someone to give them a new chapter.

Why buy a Second Life piece?

  • More accessible price. Second Life pieces have a discount compared to their first-hand price—precisely because they have already been used. Authentic Taxco craftsmanship, at a lower price.
  • Certified silver. All pieces carry their hallmark (.925 or .950) and undergo our verification before being published. We do not sell Second Life pieces if they do not meet the standard.
  • Real history. Each piece has a context: when it was made, how long it was used. This gives it a dimension that new jewelry cannot offer.
  • Positive impact. Extending the useful life of a handcrafted piece is valuing the work of the goldsmith who created it and reducing the demand for new production. It is circular by design.

Do you have silver you no longer wear?

It doesn't have to be from Arte Taxco. If you have rings, earrings, chains, or any silver piece that you no longer use—of any origin—we will appraise it and give you store credit to use on your next purchase.

How the exchange works

  1. Send us photos. Photograph the piece in good light: front view, side view, and a close-up of the hallmark or interior if it has one. Send the photos to hola@artetaxco.mx with the subject "Second Life Appraisal".
  2. We send you an offer. Within 1–2 business days, we will respond with the estimated store credit value. The appraisal considers the weight of the piece, the silver purity, the general condition, and if it has stones.
  3. You decide. If you accept the offer, you send us the piece, and we credit your store account. If not, no problem—there's no obligation.
  4. Use the store credit. The store credit can be applied to your next purchase at artetaxco.mx, up to 50% of the order value.

What types of pieces do we accept?

  • ✓ Rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets made of .925 or .950 silver
  • ✓ Mexican silver pieces from any origin or workshop
  • ✓ Pieces with semi-precious or decorative stones
  • ✓ Pieces with normal wear and tear
  • ✗ Plated or silver-filled (does not have enough silver content to be appraised)
  • ✗ Pieces made of steel, alpaca, or non-precious metals

Second Life and the Lifetime Jewelry Program

If you bought a ring from Arte Taxco and it's time to let it go, the natural path is through the Lifetime Jewelry Program. There you will find the refund percentages based on how long you owned the piece. The Second Life line is the destination for those pieces: we recondition them, and they continue to shine in new hands.

Frequently asked questions

Are Second Life pieces also covered by the Lifetime Jewelry Program?
Yes. If you purchase a piece from the Second Life line at Arte Taxco, the Program also applies. The time calculation starts from your purchase date.

How long does the appraisal take?
1 to 2 business days from when we receive your photos. During high demand seasons, it can take up to 3 days.

Can I bring the piece in person?
Currently, the process is via email and shipping. If you are in Taxco or we arrange something specific, write to us, and we'll see.

What happens if the piece arrives with damages I didn't mention?
If the actual condition of the piece differs from the photos you sent, we will notify you before processing the store credit. You can accept the new value or request the return of the piece (shipping cost at the buyer's expense).

Do you have pieces you no longer use? Write to us at hola@artetaxco.mx with the subject "Second Life Appraisal" and we will start the process.
